What is a Goldendoodle?
A Goldendoodle is a cross between a Poodle and a Golden Retriever. The Goldendoodle is a wonderful family pet. They are fun loving, happy, love people, adore children and other pets. They love to take part in family activities, such as camping, hiking/walking, swimming ect....
What are the Golden doodle generations?
If you are new to the doodle world, you are probably a little confused by all the terminology. F1's, F2's, F1B's, F2B's, multigens, etc.....Genetics can be confusing to say the least so if you would like more info than what you find on our site, I would be happy to talk with you by phone or via e-mail.
F1 Goldendoodles are a Golden Retriever bred to a Poodle. The Poodle can be either standard or miniature or even toy sized. This will give you 50% Poodle and 50% Golden Retriever. They can have various coat types from straight to curly. This generation has a higher risk of shedding, but some do not shed. When they do shed, most shed lightly and some shed moderately. They do not shed as bad as the Golden Retriever.
F1B Goldendoodles are an F1 Goldendoodle X Poodle (can be standard, miniature or toy sized). This will give you 75% Poodle and 25% Golden Retriever. They are a special first generation doodle. This coat is non shedding, like the poodle. F1B doodles coats range from the soft curls to the straight hair, however all reports from adoptive parents have reported non-shed. This is great because it means they shed so little that you don't even notice it. This very low shed was one of our goals as Levi (our son) has asthma and although he tolerates dog allergies well, we know there are a lot of people that aren't that lucky. However, please contact me if you have severe dog allergies. The coat on our doodles remains soft even when loose curls are present. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT I CAN NOT GUARANTEE COAT TYPES, SHEDDING, OR ADULT LOOKS WHEN YOU ADOPT A PUPPY.
F2 Goldendoodles are a F1 Goldendoodle X F1 Goldendoodle. This breeding gives a very unpredictable mix for the coat and so we have decided not to do this breeding.
F2 Goldendoodles are also a F1 Goldendoodle X F1B Goldendoodle. We are hoping to do this breeding in the future as it also is nonshed and has a variety of coat types and has slightly more Golden Retriever in the mix than your F1B.
We have carefully chosen our parent dogs for temperament and health. They have the mellow, loyal, happy go lucky, happy to be with you, of the golden, and the quick smarts, highly intuitive, sensitvity, of the poodle. Both the Poodle and the Golden Retriever are highly social and love to be with people. Both breeds bring wonderful traits to the Goldendoodle. This makes the goldendoodle an excellent pet choice for people, especially families and special needs children.
WHAT SIZE GOLDENDOODLE ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
Standard size 45lbs and up
Medium size 30 to 45lbs
Miniature size 15 to 30lbs
Because Goldendoodles are a hybrid, the weight for any generation is only an estimate. Goldendoodles can be smaller or larger than the estimated weight.
WHAT IS AN ENGLISH CREAM OR TEDDY BEAR GOLDENDOODLE?
The English Cream Goldendoodle gets it's heritage from the European Golden Retriever lines instead of American Golden Retriever lines. Both European and American's are full bred Golden Retrievers, but there are differences in the lines that have been bred. This is due to the AKC standards in breeding vs the UKC or European standards in breeding. When breeding for show a breeder tries to breed parent dogs that will produce the "look" that the show ring requires for each breed. Since the UKC standard is different than the AKC, the look of the English Cream Golden is different than the American. Basically they are more stocky in build with a more square head, a broader nose, and shorter legs. They carry a bit more weight and are not as "lanky" as the Americans. They also allow a broader spectrum of color in the UKC ring. Thus you have the beautiful ultra light cream color. The name "Teddy Bear" Goldendoodle comes from the adorable teddy bear look that is produced from breeding with the European lines.
WHAT ABOUT PAMBRIELLA ENGLISH CREAM LINES?
Our English Cream Golden Retrievers and Goldendoodles have parentage from some of the best lines in Europe, with multiple UK Champion lines. We have carefully selected our parent dogs to produce the temperament, and look that we believe makes the most lovable family pet. Since we started breeding Teddy Bear Goldendoodles we have doodles with.......
1. A calmer more easy going temperament.
2. A thicker more dense coat.
3. Shorter legs, a broader head, a shorter broader nose, and a stockier more dense chest and body build. This gives the Goldendoodle a much more balanced look when combined with the long legged, long nosed, sleek poodle. The "Teddy Bear" look.
If you love a huggable dog, our English Cream Teddy Bear Goldendoodles are for you! They will give you the biggest teddy bear hug ever!
POODLES ARE JUST A SILLY LOOKING FUFU DOG, RIGHT?
What most people don't know about the poodle is.....
1. They were originally bred for hunting
2. They are wonderful retrievers
3. They are highly intelligent and easy to train
4. They DO NOT have to be shaved or clipped in a silly hair cut and they look very beautiful when given a great clip!
5. They love people and love to be with people
6. They sometimes seem to know exactly how you feel as they are highly intuitive and sensitive to your feelings
7. They are nonshedding and are wonderful for people with allergies
WHAT ABOUT GROOMING?
Goldendoodles do need to be groomed. Some more than others, and some need clipped more often than others. It depends on the type of coat your Goldendoodle has. You should have them groomed about every four to six weeks, with a good brushing at least once a week. I find that a great time to brush out our Goldendoodles is in the evening while watching my favorite TV show. I also recommend that you purchase a good brush, recommended by your groomer to get out matts.
WHAT ABOUT COLORS?
Goldendoodles come in a variety of colors. This is because poodles come in a variety of colors. The following are just some of the colors you may find in a goldendoodle as well:
Various shades of cream from the ultra light to a dark cream almost a champagne color, various shades of apricot, red, black, brown, cafe au lait, blue, silver, silver beige, mismarked (abstract), sable, phantom, parti, and variations of these colors as well. As you can see, the poodle and the goldendoodle can come in just about any color you have ever seen in a dog!
Here at Pambriella Goldendoodles and Bernedoodles, we breed for the light colored and red goldendoodles and the tri colored bernedoodles.
